Early Learning Workshops
Early Learning Workshops are for children aged 5 years and under and their parents.
There are activities twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings, at the Centre Lac-Brome in Lac-Brome (Knowlton).
Early Learning Workshops encourage your child’s

- confidence;
- independence;
- self-esteem; and
- overall healthy development.
About the Workshops

- You can be in the program for a maximum of three years.
Monday morning workshops
9:30 – 11:30 am
Monday mornings are for children only. Children can take part in these workshops as soon as they are able to walk on their own. There is time to play with friends as well as games, songs, crafts and stories to enjoy. If the weather is nice, we often go play in the park just next to the Centre.
Some of the skills your child will practice on Monday mornings include:
- sharing
- taking turns
- making friends
- listening to others
- saying how he or she feels
- following a routine
- developing motor skills (catching a ball, running, balancing, using a crayon or scissors, etc)
Wednesday morning workshops
9:30 – 11:30 am
Wednesday mornings are for parents and children. As a parent, your participation in the Wednesday morning workshops is vital. Because every child is different, you are the best person to understand your child’s unique way of learning and doing things.
On Wednesday morning, the workshops are split into two parts.
For the first part, all the parents meet together while the children are doing activities in the next room. The topics we cover include everything from building close family relationships to finding bedtime strategies that work for you.
Sometimes there is a guest speaker, a discussion or a demonstration. Sometimes there are special projects for parents to prepare before the children join us. There is always coffee!
For the second part of the Wednesday morning workshop, parents and children are together. This is an opportunity for you to focus on your child and have some special time together, playing or working on a project.
