Lac-Brome Recreation and Community Services is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to promote the development and maintenance of a wide variety of programs and facilities in the areas of community services, recreation and culture for the citizens of the Town of Brome Lake.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant performs various tasks such as drafting, translation and communications. He/She ensures that all of the organization’s written material as well as communication tools attain a high level of quality for both content and presentation. He/She works with the community organizations to ensure the promotion of their activities via various media tools including the organisation’s web site.
The tasks include, but are not limited to:
Offers administrative support to the Director by preparing monthly and annual reports, presentations, agendas and minutes, etc.;
Prepares, translates and edits correspondence and other written material as required, including fundraising requests, grant applications, policy documents and reports;
Prepares and revises both the content and layout of all promotional material including posters, flyers, ads, etc.;
Collects and processes information about community and cultural activities organised in Lac-Brome and regularly updates the community calendar, online and in print;
Prepares and distributes deadlines for applications for the use of the public domain and for funding applications in leisure, tourism and culture;
Establishes the publication schedule for the municipal bulletin. Collects information on leisure activities and the community calendar and follows up on the production of this bulletin;
Writes and revises the content and maintains the organisation’s web site and Facebook page, in French and in English;
Participates in the development of communication tools in leisure, tourism and culture: posters, flyers, web sites, etc.;
Proposes topics for press releases, writes and revises news releases in French and English, develops contacts with local media;
Prepares and displays the daily schedule and upcoming activities in the entrance of the Centre Lac-Brome;
Participates in the organization of special events;
Ensures the responsibilities of the Secretary-Receptionist when the latter is absent.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant for a non-profit organization or a municipality, or in a field relevant to the function;
BILINGUAL – the ability to communicate in both French and English, spoken and written, is essential;
Excellent writing skills;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of WordPress and Photoshop an asset.
Keen eye for detail and good sense of visual design

Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse, bi-cultural client group which includes seniors, families and young people

PROJECT AGENT, TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
Working under the Director of Lac-Brome Recreation and Community Services, the Project Agent for Tourism and Cultural Development will be responsible for developing and supporting initiatives in tourism and in culture, for promoting Town of Brome Lake as a tourist destination and for tourist information services.
▫ To plan and coordinate the actions of the Town in the area of tourism ;
▫ To coordinate the implementation of Lac-Brome’s tourism strategy and related policies;
▫ To coordinate the Coeur villageois project;
▫ To implement a promotional strategy through publicity, public relations and promotional materials;
▫ To manage the website tourismelacbrome.com and to manage the organisation’s presence on social media;
▫ To coordinate the promotion of the Summer 2017 and Winter 2017-18 tourist seasons in Lac-Brome;
▫ To coordinate the production of summer and winter brochures;
▫ To coordinate the Town’s logistical and financial support for existing tourist attractions and cultural events and activities, including preparing and following up on agreements reached with individuals and groups;
▫ To stimulate the development of new initiatives in tourism and culture in partnership with local institutions, businesses, community groups and other interested parties, including identifying products and services which are attractive to visitors;
▫ To consult and cooperate on an ongoing basis with other agencies (businesses, event promoters, cultural institutions, etc.);
▫ To identify and implement best practices for Tourist Information Services based on the latest evidence; to participate in the hiring process, to coordinate work schedules and to supervise Tourist Information staff;
▫ To effectively manage the Town’s tourism-related infrastructure and equipment;
▫ To represent and advocate for the Town at the regional and provincial levels in the fields of culture and tourism;
▫ When requested by his or her supervisor, to participate in a range of committee meetings and meetings with outside organisations;
▫ When requested by his or her supervisor, to attend related conferences, training sessions or meetings;
▫ To carry out any additional related task.
▫ Bachelor’s Degree in tourism, economic development or related field and/or a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
▫ Knowledge of marketing and communications
▫ Knowledge with WordPress and social media
▫ Familiarity with organisations, networks and major actors in the fields of tourism and culture
▫ The ability to communicate in French and in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential to the job
▫ Starting date : Immediate
