Lifeguards
Role:
To ensure the safety of Douglass Beach. 30-40 hours/wk.

Qualifications:
Bilingual, mature, reliable and responsable. Must have a valid SNS-Beach/Pool Certificate and be available June 19 – August 19.

Swim Instructors and/or Lifeguards
Role:
To teach Red-Cross certified swimming classes to small groups of children. 15-25 hours/wk. May be combined with a lifeguard posting to make 30-40 hours/wk.

Qualifications:
Bilingual, mature, reliable and responsable. Must have a valid Red-Cross Instructor’s certificate. If job is combined, then the successful candidate must also have a SNS-Beach/Pool Certificate. Must be available June 19 – August 19.

Parking attendant
Role:
To greet visitors and ensure the smooth operation of the parking lot at Douglass Beach. Hours vary.

Qualifications:
Bilingual, reliable, polite and helpful with members of the public. Must be available June 19 – August 19.

Day Camp Animators
Remember your favourite camp counsellors? Now it’s your turn to make a difference! We’re looking for responsible animators with imagination and leadership skills.  If you love working with kids, this is your chance to be part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Role:
To plan and lead a range of activities (sports, arts and crafts, science activities, drama, dance, large group games and more) for children 3 and up.

Skills and Experience:
Experience with children. Motivated and enthusiastic about sports, crafts and leading activities. Bilingual, creative, dynamic and mature. Good team and leadership skills. Must be available June 24 to August 13.

Openings:
Animators for ages 10 and up: 40 hours/week for 8 weeks and 3 days
Animators for ages 5-9: 40 hours/week for 8 weeks and 3 days
Animators for ages 3-5: 8 hours/week for 7 weeks

Counsellor-in-training
We are looking for energetic, responsible 15-year-olds to join our team as counsellors-in-training. If you enjoy working with kids, this could be a great opportunity to get some valuable work experience. Who knows? This might even be the start of a long and rewarding career!

Role:
To assist the animators in planning for and managing a group of children. To plan and lead occasional activities for children aged 5 and up.

Skills and Experience:
Motivated and enthusiastic about sports, crafts, games,etc. Bilingual, creative, dynamic and mature. Good team skills. Must be available June 24 to August 13.

Openings:
Two part-time openings, (+/- 20 hours per week for 7 weeks and 3 days)

Shadow (for children with special needs)
Every year, a number of children with special needs come to Salamander Summer Camp and some of these children need a bit of extra support to help them successfully and securely integrate into the group. As a shadow, you can make a real difference to a child’s experience of camp: you will certainly need patience, but the amazing smiles will make it all worthwhile!

Role:
To accompany children with special needs, facilitate their integration into camp activities and ensure their safety.

Skills and experience:
Enthusiasm, patience, good listening skills, able to handle unpredictable or difficult situations. Studies or experience in a similar domain would be an asset. Must be available June 24 to August 13.

Opening:
One opening, 40 hours per week for 8 weeks and 3 days.
