The Town of Brome Lake Takes Action to Promote Economic Development on Its Territory
Brome Lake, March 26, 2021 — The Town of Brome Lake is proud to announce a series of new measures to facilitate economic development. These measures will be implemented over the next five years with an annual budget of $150,000.
These measures are designed to increase economic activity in all sectors of the Town and to reinvigorate the downtown area. They include a tax credit program, assistance for commercial and industrial businesses to renovate their facades, and support for agro-food or restaurant businesses wishing to establish in downtown Brome Lake.
“As early as 2015, Town Council had expressed in its strategic plan its desire to intensify economic development and revitalize its downtown area, which over the years has suffered from the impact of online commerce and business losses,” mentions Louise Morin, Knowlton-Lakeside District Councillor and responsible for the tourism, culture and economic development portfolio. “The impact of the pandemic on businesses has reinforced our determination to adopt these three measures. ”
“I am proud of the work Council and the administration have done on this issue. These initiatives will act as both a stimulus for our economy and a boost for existing businesses in these troubled economic times,” said Town of Brome Lake Mayor Richard Burcombe.
The tax credit program is designed to help attract new industrial businesses or expand existing ones. Assistance for the renovation of commercial and industrial facades is available throughout the municipality. Assistance for agro-food and restaurant businesses is directed at new arrivals to the Town and excludes banners and franchisees.
Details and eligibility criteria can be found in the Municipal By-laws section of the Town’s website. Questions can be directed to Mélissa Brock, Taxation Technician, at 450-243-6111, ext. 223 or email@example.com.
