Tragedy of the Granby girl: the Town of Brome Lake increases assistance to an organization working with children in difficulty
Following the tragic events involving a seven-year-old girl in Granby on April 30, the Town of Brome Lake will contribute an additional $2,500 to the Community Social Pediatrics Centre Main dans la main. This contribution brings the total assistance granted to this organization to $12,500 for the current year.
The tragedy that shook all of Quebec resonated strongly here, since the girl’s grandparents live in Brome Lake. “This organization provides valuable services to many families in our community. It is also a way for us to offer our condolences and show solidarity with the grandparents who have to deal with this tragedy,” said Richard Burcombe, Mayor of Brome Lake.
Main dans la main works with children aged 0 to 14 who are in a very vulnerable situation.
Launched five years ago, the organization has since then relied on the services of social workers, doctors and a clinical nurse. Main dans la main is a member of the network of community social paediatric centres certified by the Dr. Julien Foundation since 2015.
