Last Sitting of Municipal Council

 

A Look Back at the Council Sitting of January 14 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council authorized the payment of invoices in the amount of $500,392.09, including taxes, for the following projects:

• Victoria Street Reconstruction

• Mill and Fairmount Road Reconstruction

• Restoration work on the Town Hall

The elected officials then approved the renewal of the software and software package maintenance contract with ACCEO Solutions for $66,490, plus taxes, and then awarded Sani-Éco Inc. the five-year AO 2018-31 (processing of recyclable materials) contract for $281,688.75, including taxes.

The Treasurer was given the mandate to submit a grant application under the Programme pour une protection accrue des sources d'eau potable.

The implementation of a watershed master plan by the OBV Yamaska will be able to move forward thanks to an expenditure of $54,211.54 from the Council.

Regarding urban planning, Council appointed the members of the demolition committee.

Before concluding the session, it authorized the total expenditure of $35,250 as a financial contribution to various organizations or activities.

A Look Back at the Special Council Meeting of January 24


In this very short meeting, where only one item was on the agenda, the elected officials formally requested the introduction of a private bill on the Bromont-Brome-Lake police service.

Property taxes: the new bill is sent

If this is not already the case, you will very soon receive by mail the municipal tax bill for 2019. It can be paid in three instalments. 

Here are the deadlines to remember:

- February 27th

- June 12th

- September 11th

Reminder: You have three ways to pay your taxes:

- Online banking payment

- Cheques (post-dated cheques accepted)

- Debit card and cash at Town Hall

Brown bin: a first pick-up done!

A first collection of organic matter was made last week in Lac-Brome. The Town would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents who have put their hands to the task and adopted this new habit. 

A reminder: pick-ups are scheduled every two weeks until April, then every week from April to October. Any questions about what we can put in there? Some answers here.  

Furthermore, the new pick-up schedule, effective February 1, will be sent to you in paper format in the same mailing as the tax bill. It can be accessed online here.

Organic Matter Information Sessions: New Dates Announced

The Brome-Missisquoi MRC announces the new dates for three information sessions on the pick-up of organic materials. Come and learn about Organic Materials collection and other matters. Using the brown bin will be clear by the end of the session!

Here are the details:

Changes will be made to Town Hall's office hours

There will be changes to the hours of reception at Town Hall. 

Starting Monday, February 4, the schedule will be the following:

• Open from 8 am to noon, then from 1 pm to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, except on holidays.

Please note that this new schedule does not apply to other municipal buildings.  

As a reminder, the temporary Town Hall is located at 30 Lakeside Road (the blue building near Coldbrook Park), while the centennial building where administrative staff usually work (122 Lakeside Road) is undergoing renovations.

These hours of operation will prevail once staff return to 122 Lakeside Road.

Please note that the non-profit organization Loisirs et services communautaires will dissolve itself by a special general meeting to be held on January 31, 2010, at 6 p.m., at the Centre Lac-Brome. Full details in this notice.

Grants to seniors: new property role, new eligible residences!

In the mailing of the tax bill, the Town of Brome Lake sent form FM-210.1 to qualifying property owners regarding the potential receipt of a grant. Did you receive this form? Check to see if you meet the other eligibility criteria and take them into account when you file your 2018 tax return.

Best of luck André!

The Town of Brome Lake wishes to highlight the leaving of André Boudreau, who is leaving his position as Program Coordinator at the end of January. In his role as a member of the Brome Lake Recreation and Community Services Department for just over two years, he will take on new challenges.

We would like to thank him warmly for his contribution and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours!

February 2nd from 1 to 5 pm

A variety of activities planned are sure to have the whole family partying outdoors. The beach will become a magnificent playground for sports fans, a destination for admirers of bucolic scenery and a gathering place for those who enjoy chatting around a central fire with a nice hot beverage!

The early childhood program is back!

January 23rd from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, our Early Childhood Program will restart at Centre Lac-Brome offering parents and their toddlers (0-5 years old) a caring and relaxed environment to meet other parents and children and participate, along with educators, in a variety of activities. FREE. Come and join the fun!

Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
