Au Coeur de l'Eau

''The existence of this artistic project embodies a responsible value in the face of the realities of climate change and our deliberate stance to break free from a sense of belonging. Artists, residents, children, volunteers, partners—in short, an entire community—is invited to create a movement toward greater awareness. The public is invited to discover works of art displayed throughout the town of Brome Lake during the summer of 2025, presented in multiple facets.''

- Muriel Faille

The 6 Segments

Public Art

An open air museum, embedded in nature.

Starting in June 2025, a permanent series of works created by five professional artists from Brome Lake will be installed in Coldbrook Park, in the heart of the village: Michel Beaucage, Muriel Faille, Michel Gamache, Bertrand Licart, Peter Raymond.

Each work engages with the theme of water, inviting poetic and philosophical perceptions of the site and our environment. Five paintings occupy this public space like an open-air gallery.

Sculptures and Assemblages

Visual artists are invited to submit artwork - either assemblages or sculptures - on the theme of water and recycling. Twenty entries will be selected for this project, which will be presented in Coldbrook Park in July.

Artists from all walks of life are invited to create a three-dimensional work using recycled materials or materials related to water and the environment. The selected works will be exhibited in Coldbrook Park, highlighting the recycled materials and inventiveness of the participants.

The maximum format limit is 4 feet wide, ensuring that the work is weatherproof and respects the water theme.

The works must be installed by the artists themselves at the location indicated by the town, on the set dates.

An independent, anonymous jury will then award a $500 prize to the artist whose work stands out for its impact and sensitivity. At the end of the exhibition, artists will be asked to pick up their creations.

Entries are open to all, with no geographical, age or experience restrictions. To enter, simply fill in the form below and attach a sketch or photo of the work before June 1, 2025.

Small-format - Fundraising

Arts in support of the Lake

The arts have always been a powerful source of involvement. In this spirit, the “Au Coeur de l'Eau” fundraiser presents a fundraising exhibition dedicated to the conservation of Brome Lake. Some 50 original artworks relating to water will be on sale at the Centre Lac-Brome from Wednesday August 20 to Sunday August 24 inclusively, each created for the event by artists who share a common awareness of the environment and water.

These works can all be purchased for $225, 20% of which will be donated to Conservation Lac-Brome to fund conservation initiatives for the Brome Lake ecosystem.

Any artist aged 18 or over wishing to participate can submit their application now by completing the form below before July 07, 2025. All mediums are accepted and the required format is 10“ x 10”.

Kids at the Beach

On Thursday August 21 from 9am to 12pm, children are invited to make sand castles on Douglass Beach, exploring shapes and textures.  Sand will serve as an arena for artistic experimentation, open to broader reflection... a metaphor for the fragility of aquatic ecosystems.

This activity can serve as an opportunity to stimulate their creativity and imagination.

Each child will be invited to draw their sculpture on supplied paper, and the drawings will be exhibited at the Centre Lac-Brome in September with the child's name.

Event: Douglass Beach, Thursday, August 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Fashion Show at the Beach

To reflect the times we live in, by exploring notions of water and recycling, culminating in the creation of a wearable work of art for a beach fashion show.

Every year, Conservation Lac-Brome organizes a major clean-up of the lake, a vital operation that recovers dozens of kilos of waste. The recovered materials could be used for wearable creations. Other options include fabrics with references to water, whether in terms of details, images or other elements, to create dresses, hats, cloths and so on.

These creations develop perception, reflection and interest in the very nature of water, ecology and the environment.

A fashion show in which inventiveness and imagination will sharpen curiosity and awareness around water. Wearable works will be photographed for an exhibition to be determined.

Contest: The winner of this fashion show, chosen by the public, will receive $500.

If you have an interest in participating in this fashion show, you can register by filling out the form below before July 31, 2025.

Event : Douglass Beach, Thursday, August 21, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Brome lake Shores

What if water were a living thing in perpetual motion? Through this project, photographers will have the opportunity to explore the shores of Brome Lake from privileged vantage points, in collaboration with local residents. Pontoons and small boats will be available for this project.

Photographers will capture the character and appearance of the shores.

This project is an opportunity to raise people's awareness of the need to preserve aquatic ecosystems, and to develop their deep bond with the lake and the importance of preserving it.

To participate, photographers are invited to personally get in touch with Brome Lake residents. Please register before September 1, 2025, by filling out the form below.

Photos selected by a jury must be submitted and framed by September 30, 2025, for an exhibition to be held at the Théâtre de Lac-Brome in February 2026. Framed works must not exceed 76cm wide x 50cm high, and must include the artist's name, title and selling price.
