Family Fun day

Hot Dog and Popcorn Preparation Assistant

One-time involvement

May 31, 2026 — Hot dogs: from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Popcorn: from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Main responsibilities:

• For the 2026 Family Day event, we will be serving hot dogs and need help with grilling and assembling them. We are also looking for someone to prepare popcorn.

• Help grill sausages and hot dog buns

• Assemble the hot dogs

• Ensure there are enough condiments

• Set out plates and napkins for participants

• Mandatory: training meeting two weeks before the event – a Doodle will be sent to you

Requirements:

• Comfortable with food preparation and cooking

• Ability to stand for several hours

• Comfortable interacting with the public

• Ability to communicate in both official languages (bilingualism not mandatory)

Family Fun Day

Traffic Control Volunteer

One-time involvement

May 31, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Main responsibilities:

• The 2026 Family Day event will take place at Carke Terrace. Part of Bondville Street will be one-way to facilitate parking for the event.

• We are looking for volunteers to help ensure pedestrian safety and compliance with traffic instructions by motorists.

• Inform motorists that the street is one-way for the duration of the event

• Direct vehicles in the designated direction

• Ensure that motorists drive at a walking pace in the reserved section

• Ensure pedestrian safety when a vehicle approaches

• Communicate via walkie-talkie with other volunteers regarding available spots along the road

• Equipment provided: walkie-talkies and orange visibility vests

• Mandatory: training meeting two weeks before the event – a Doodle will be sent to you

Requirements:

• Ability to stand for several hours

• Comfortable communicating with all types of people

• Ability to communicate in both French and English (bilingualism not essential)

Transport

Food rescue brigade

Recurring/permanent involvement

1 to 2 times per week

Main responsibilities:

• Pick up unsold goods from local merchants to help reduce food waste and stock the community fridge.

• Twice a week, go to the bakery on Friday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. to collect unsold bread.

It is possible to go only once a week. Contact me for more details.

• Bring the bread to the community centre (270 Victoria Street) to place it in the refrigerator or freezer.

Requirements:

• Have a driver's license

• Have a car

School Library Volunteer

Nature of the position: Recurring/permanent

Our elementary school is looking for volunteers to help out in the library. Your help will keep this space welcoming and inspiring for our students!

Tasks include shelving and returning books to their proper place, tidying up the shelves, and displaying certain books to spark a love of reading in children.

No experience is required — just the desire to contribute to school life and support students in their discovery of reading.

Please note: Before starting, you will need to come to the school on a weekday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to complete a criminal background check. This step is mandatory and the process may take a few weeks to be validated.

Main responsibilities:

• Taking care of our library

• Shelving and returning books when they are brought back

Requirements:

• Enjoy interacting with children
